POEM: orgasm

Based on a true story.

orgasm

“Mary never had an orgasm —
God put that baby in her stomach,”
says the subway preacher
while the high schoolers giggle

he warns of sex with a lady
two ladies four ladies
seven ladies twenty ladies
then his imagination runs dry
and his stop comes

the car is as silent
as subway cars ever get
then something sets the girls
to giggling again
“That’s New York,” one of them says
