POEM: sing to me, Woody Guthrie

sing to me, Woody Guthrie

sing me a song of American roads
dust bowls and farmers and
flint-eyed women hugging
children to their tired hips
give me a sign to find my way
along this endless road
take me to the heart of a nation
that yearns to be better
for I am ready to sing a new song
ready to add my voice to the chorus
sing to me, Woody Guthrie
