Poems from Amy Allison’s Delta students

Last week I taught I poetry workshop at in Amy Allison’s class at Delta, the alternative (read: incredibly cool) high school in State College, PA. I wrote a poem about the experience.

Yesterday the most amazing gift appeared in my email inbox: a collection of poems from the students in response to my time with them. There are some very, very insightful moments in here. Perhaps too insightful. 🙂

And the final line of one of these made me tear up.

I just wish I knew who wrote them. But they all decided to remain anonymous. In any case, thank you to Amy and her wonderful students.

  1. These are all so gorgeous, Jason. I especially love that last one. It’s so cool that you had this beautiful experience — and at my dream job, nonetheless! See? Isn’t it a fabulous school?! This makes me all sorts of warm and fuzzy.

  2. Wow! Such great poems. You may have missed your calling, Jason. You sure inspired a pretty tough audience.
